Shania Twain's Come On Over Now Best-Selling Country Album in the History of Recorded Music

Shania Twain’s third album, "Come On Over," is now the best-selling country album of all time, having been certified by the RIAA for sales of 17 million, announced Luke Lewis, President of Mercury Nashville, Twain’s label.

"Having the opportunity to work a project as brilliant musically as "Come On Over" is a dream for anyone who works for a record label," said Lewis. "I’m incredibly proud of the staff of Mercury Records and our partners in this amazing accomplishment, especially Mutt Lange, Jon Landau and Barbara Carr, the promotion staff of Island/Def Jam Music, CAA, George Travis, UMVD and Shore Fire Media. Shania’s commitment to excellence has inspired us all to be better at what we do. The most gratifying thing for me is to see her exemplary artistry, talent and hard work being rewarded by finding a place in the history books."

In addition to being the biggest-selling country album of all time by any artist, male or female, "Come On Over" is now tied as the fifth best-selling single CD release, following The Eagles, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac. The soundtrack to "The Bodyguard" shares that slot with "Come On Over".

After 122 weeks of release, "Come On Over" remains in the Top 30 of the "Billboard 200" chart. Worldwide sales have topped 26 million.
